The Red Dot Design Award is an international design competition that occurs every year. There are three different categories that participants can enter their designs (Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept). An international team of expert jurors judge the participants and chose the winners. Submissions are judged based on their design quality and degree of innovation. The winners will then be recognized at the Red Dot Gala award ceremony taking place in the Aalto Theater. On top of the award ceremony, a subsequent Designers’ Night in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany will take place on June 19th.

The Kia Niro Plus-in Hybrid has been recognized under the category of “Product Design”. This recognition showcase Kia’s commitment to designing innovative, high-quality vehicles. This vehicle features a contemporary-looking angular ‘Heartbeat’ daytime running lights, a distinctive Aero C-Pillar, a bold skid plate and cladding. Three electrified powertrains are available for the Kia Niro (full-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid). All three electrified powertrains feature eco-friendly interior materials.
