Kia Motors is continuing their partnership with B.R.A.K.E.S., the non-profit organization that provides free advanced hands-on drivers education through their Teen Pro-Active Driving School, for the seventh year.

B.R.A.K.E.S. stands for Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe and was created by NHRA drag racing star, Doug Herbert, after a car accident took the lives of his two sons, Jon and James, in 2008. Originally, Herbert was training his sons friends but once the word got out, the program began to grow. Herbert created the organization in order to spread his knowledge and help prevent families from going through what he was forced to endure. He states that the primary goal of B.R.A.K.E.S. is to prevent injuries and save lives by training and educating teenage drivers and their parents about the importance of safe and responsible driving.

Some of the advanced training that the Teen Pro-Active Driving Curriculum teaches includes Collision Avoidance to teach steering control, Distraction Exercises to increase focus and concentration, Wheel Drop-Off Recovery to teach the proper method of retaining control of the wheel, Panic Stop Exercises to teach control when braking, and Car Control and Recovery for wet or icy roads.

Currently, Kia provides the B.R.A.K.E.S. organization with a fleet of 44 vehicles for teens to receive their training in. These vehicles make it possible for B.R.A.K.E.S. to increase the number of locations they can train in and also, the number of families they can service. Kia Motors’ financial donations and car donations make it possible for B.R.A.K.E.S. to continue to provide this life saving training free of charge. The vehicles provided include the Kia Soul, Rio, and Forte. Saad Chehab, vice president of Marketing Communications at Kia, gives his congratulations to the B.R.A.K.E.S. program for their success. He says he looks forward to continuing to work with them for years to come.
